AA reminds drivers about 1 April tax increase
The Automobile Association reminds drivers that petrol tax increases from 1 April by 5c/litre plus GST. Road User Charges for light diesel vehicles will also increase.
“If you need to top up your petrol tank or your Road User Charges, it would pay to do it today” said George Fairbairn. The cost of fuel is unlikely to be cheaper than it is today.
The 1 April changes bring RUC for 1-2 tonne vehicles up to the same level as those for 3 tonne vehicles.
If, on 1 April, a diesel vehicle has unused kilometres of Road User Charges remaining, these will still be valid. The increase will not be applied retrospectively to RUC already purchased.
