Freedom Air Says It Won’t Be Undercut On Low Fares

Freedom Air is upping the ante in the competitive Auckland market with a move which could signal a fare bonanza for travellers.

New Zealand’s only locally-owned low cost airline today announced a new fare between Auckland and Queensland which undercuts its rivals by at least $10 each way.

Announcing the new low fares, Stephen Jones Freedom Air’s General Manager says the airline stands by its claim to offer the lowest fares in the market. “Let’s face it, we’ve consistently offered the best fares and we are going to continue to do so. We keep costs down by keeping our business simple and we pass these savings onto our customers.

“Generally we have more seats available at these prices than anyone else. We say we won’t be undercut – and we plan to fulfil that commitment.”

The new fares are from NZD$79* one way from Auckland to Brisbane or Auckland to Gold Coast. This means that an adult can fly return from Auckland to Queensland for under $300, inclusive of all taxes, levies and surcharges (excluding Auckland Airport Departure tax) – one of the lowest fares ever seen on the trans-Tasman market.

One way fares from Brisbane to Auckland are just as low at AUD$158 (inclusive of taxes and surcharges) and AUD$148 from Gold Coast to Auckland (inclusive of taxes and surcharges).
