Consensus on productivity

Consensus on productivity

Consensus between employers and employees is a powerful tool for improving productivity, says Business NZ.

Chief Executive Phil O'Reilly says the Workplace Productivity Working Group Report launched today is the result of cooperative work between Business NZ, the CTU, the Government and other parties.

"The resolve by all parties to overcome differences and work together to improve productivity has been impressive," Mr O'Reilly said. "The opportunity to build consensus around productivity growth is one of the great opportunities of our time.

"More than an opportunity, it's actually an imperative. Other countries are working hard on productivity - if we don't do the same, our ability to grow strongly and sustainably will suffer."

Mr O'Reilly said the Business NZ family of regional organisations - EMA Northern, EMA Central, the Canterbury Employers' Chamber of Commerce and the Otago-Southland Employers' Association - would work with member businesses to help facilitate training, promotions and techniques to improve productivity levels.
