Higher employment means more workplace learning
11 November 2004
The announcement of a 3.8% unemployment rate was welcomed by the Industry Training Federation today.
"High employment is reflected in the higher demand for workplace learning to keep peoples' skills current", said Darel Hall Executive Director of the Industry Training Federation.
"The number of industry trainees increased 56% to 126,870 between 2000 and 2003. We will increase that by 100% to 250,000 in 2007.
"The workplace is increasingly a learning space that leads to the right skills for employers and employees. More productive workplaces are a key to economic and social well being. Industry training is a key part of increasing skill to be more productive", Darel Hall said.
