Contact Energy 2005 Annual Meeting To Be Held In Wellington

Contact Energy confirmed today that its annual profit result would be released to the New Zealand Stock Exchange on 23 November 2004 and that it would hold its annual meeting of shareholders in Wellington on 15 February 2005.

Chairman Grant King said it was the second time the company's annual meeting had been held in Wellington, providing an opportunity for local investors to learn more about the company's performance and plans.

“Contact has one of the largest bases of shareholders in the country,” said Mr King. There are approximately 12,400 Contact shareholders in the wider Wellington and Kapiti Coast area.

“Holding our annual meeting in Wellington carries out our intention of using various locations around the country to allow as many of our shareholders as possible to attend.”

Contact held its 2004 annual meeting in Dunedin, while previous meetings have been held in Christchurch, Auckland and Wellington.

The company’s head office and core retail services functions are located in Wellington city, with a new retail services centre due to open in Lower Hutt later this year. One of its two national retail call centres is nearby in Levin.

Contact also advised that nominations for Directors of Contact Energy open today and close at 5.00pm, 16 December 2004. Nominations must be made by a security holder entitled to attend and vote at the annual
meeting, and should be directed to “Director Nominations”, c/- General Counsel, Contact Energy Ltd, PO Box 10742, Wellington.

The annual meeting will be held at the Duxton Hotel, 170 Wakefield Street, Wellington at 9.30am on Tuesday, 15 February 2005.
