Carters acquires Tanners
29 October 2004
Building supplies company Carters has announced it has acquired Tanners Timberworld’s three retail distribution sites in Whitianga, Kopu and Whangamata in the Coromandel.
These businesses will be fully integrated into Carters operations and branded as Carters from 1 November 2004. Carters Chief Executive Stuart Munro says, “The sites concerned close another loop for Carters in our goal to have national coverage to service the needs of our trade base and the needs of consumers within the Coromandel area.
These acquisitions show Carters commitment to growing our business. We look forward to continuing the high levels of service that customers in the Coromandel have come to expect from Tanners.”
Tanners Timberworld is a family owned business that began operation in 1964. Its three distribution outlets have been in operation for twelve years and primarily service the building trade. Twenty Tanners staff will become members of the Carters team when the changes take effect.
Carters is a New Zealand-based building supplies merchant chain, catering to the building trade, the furniture and joinery industry, and the home-improvement market. It is part of Carter Holt Harvey Limited.
