Polaris Way Out Ride at Te Awamutu
Farmers, family groups, weekend trail riders, hard-out sport riders … all kinds of ATV owners are expected at Oparau
near Te Awamutu next weekend for the latest Polaris Way Out Ride.
It’s an opportunity for four-wheeler riders to take to the back country in an event especially for them.
This is the second Way Out Ride, a new charity initiative by Polaris which is proving a real success.
More than 70 ATVs took part at Dargaville earlier this month and a hundred are expected this coming Sunday 31st.
Polaris dealer Wayne Shaw says the accent is on relaxed enjoyment.
“The Way Out Rides are tailored by Polaris, who understand recreational ATV riding very well,” commented Mr Shaw.
“The rides are for weekend recreational riders, farmers … anyone who enjoys getting out on their ATV.
“They need a helmet and boots, plus their four-wheeler … it need not be a Polaris, we accept all makes.”
“We’ve found in the past that ATVs and two-wheelers don’t go well together on rides,” he said. “The ATV people say it
takes the fun out of it, as the machines are ridden differently and tend to tackle different terrain.
Organisers have marked a trail through the rolling hills for a three-hour guided ride, or riders can travel at their own
pace. A separate circuit caters for children riders.
As an additional feature, the Polaris dealership will have the latest Sportsman 700 EFI electronically fuel-injected ATV
on hand for serious riders to try.
The Way Out Ride costs $25 to enter and all proceeds go to the Waikato Air Ambulance.
It starts at 9.30am at John Scott’s property on Hauturu Road (off main Kawhia Road) at Oparau.
