Erratum Correction to New Zealand Income Survey: June 2004 quarter 28 September 2004
Corrections have been made to the New Zealand Income Survey release for the June 2004 quarter, published on 28 September 2004, as the period references used may have been misleading.
The media release read: "Average weekly income from wages and salaries for all people increased by 4.6 percent in the June 2004 quarter to $348." It should have read: "Between the June 2003 and June 2004 quarters, average weekly income from wages and salaries for all people increased by 4.6 percent to $348".
In the Commentary of the Hot Off The Press, paragraph three of "Changes in weekly income" read: "In the June 2004 quarter, the growth in average weekly income from all sources consisted of increases in average weekly income from wages and salaries and selfemployment, offset by a decrease in investment income." It should have read: "The growth in average weekly income from all sources from the June 2003 quarter to the June 2004 quarter consisted of increases in average weekly income from wages and salaries and selfemployment, offset by a decrease in investment income".
Also in the Commentary, paragraph 1 of "Wage and salary income" read: "Average weekly income from wages and salaries for all people increased by 4.6 percent in the June 2004 quarter to $348, due to a 3.2 percent increase in the wages and salaries for those in paid employment and a 3.0 percent increase in the number of people in paid employment." It should have read: "Average weekly income from wages and salaries for all people increased by 4.6 percent to $348 from the June 2003 quarter to the June 2004 quarter.
This was due to a 3.2 percent increase in the wages and salaries for those in paid employment and a 3.0 percent increase in the number of people in paid employment". Paragraph 1 of "Self-employed earners" read: "In the June 2004 quarter, the proportion of people who received self-employment income remained relatively unchanged at 12.7 percent." It should have read: "In the June 2004 quarter, the proportion of people who received self-employment income remained relatively unchanged from the June 2003 quarter, at 12.7 percent".
