BBC radio joins Titewhai Harawira On Radia Waatea

BBC radio joins Titewhai Harawira on urban Maori radio station Waatea603am talkback show “Nga Putake Wahine.”

The world renowned broadcasting organization BBC will be in the Radio Waatea studios Wednesday 29 September to report back to London on the current political climate in New Zealand.

BBC producer Richard Fenton-Smith says listeners are encouraged to call in and give their opinion “on issues such as the formation and future of the Maori Party, the foreshore debate, as well as the apparent anti-Maori sentiment which has emerged in politics in New Zealand this year, from both Don Brash and Helen Clark.”

Excerpts from “Nga Putake Wahine” will be broadcast on BBC’s flagship news, current affairs, and culture network programme Radio 4.

Auckland Mayoral candidates John Banks, Christine Fletcher and Dick Hubbard will also join Mrs. Harawira on air to answer questions specific to the Maori community. Mrs. Harawira facillated a meeting between the three contenders Monday night in an effort to quell the campaigners heated public squabbling.
