Barfoot & Thompson Helps ‘Bag Ladies’
Barfoot & Thompson is delighted to have helped the Friends of Starship’s recent ‘Bag Ladies Brunch’ raise $32,000 to complete funding of the new Pacemaker Clinic and Treadmill for the Heart Unit at Starship Children’s Health.
Barfoot & Thompson provided the skills of its Auction Manager Tony Worsp who conducted the fundraising auction of six unique hand bags gifted by donors and created by leading New Zealand fashion and bag designers.
Five hundred people attended the event where Friends of Starship Chairperson Liz Darlow says Tony brought the auction alive. ”His wit and enthusiasm ensured bidding for the bags was lively and generous.”
Liz says the brunch was enormously successful with a great mix of corporate guests, regular Friends of Starship supporters and the general public. “The money raised completes our fundraising for the new Pacemaker Clinic. We’re thrilled with the outcome and extremely grateful for the support of our sponsors, including Barfoot & Thompson.”
Friends of Starship North Shore is a group of community based volunteers who support the Starship Foundation to raise money for non-government funded equipment and services that focus on making life more comfortable for patients, families and staff. “Our association with Starship continues to inspire us and we look forward to our next project to assist Starship children.”
