Hazardous Weather Cancels Wellington Mail Delivery

Hazardous Weather Cancels Wellington Mail Delivery

New Zealand Post advises customers today that the majority of postie deliveries in Wellington have been cancelled today due to the dangerous weather conditions affecting the region.

"The severe weather situation in Wellington is proving too dangerous for our Posties to safely carry out their usual delivery," said Garry Whale, National Delivery Manager.

Wellington courier services will also be delayed due to the closure of Wellington Airport, the cancellation of Cook Strait ferries and some road closures around the Capital.

Some mail and courier product going to or from the central North Island is also likely to be delayed because of road and airport closures and the hazardous conditions.

"Some of the areas outside Wellington where we are unlikely to be able to make any deliveries include Taihape and Waiouru.

"Despite the conditions we will aim to keep to our service standards as closely as possible and we will monitor the conditions during the day, said Mr Whale.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers by being unable to deliver today."

If customers need further information they can phone the New Zealand Post customer service centre on 0800 501 501.
