Ex-engineer named 2004 Rookie Marketer of the Year.
Jeese Staines, new product development manager for Carter Holt Harvey’s Interion Division has been named the 2004 Manukau Institute of Technology Rookie Marketer of the Year at the annual Marketing Magazine Marketing Awards announced in Auckland last night.
It is an award which, he says, completes a transition from industrial chemistry and design to one where you can actually interact with the object of all your efforts – the consumer.
And interact he does, say the Award judges. Superbly and with a maturity beyond his years and his relatively short period of coal-face marketing experience. They attribute this to his unorthodox pathway into marketing, an engineering-based background that honed both an eye for detail and an ability to analyse and project manage.
Judges say it is a skill set that more marketers should strive to hold. They say Staines can be relied on to deliver marketing projects to a high standard on time and with all detail covered.
He has an innate feel for what can and should be done. And always that means accurately and professionally.
Jesse Staines won the Rookie Marketer of the Year Award ahead of two other finalists, Hannah Buckley, trade marketing co-ordinator for Kellogg; and Ben Hughes, brand manager, salty snacks for Goodman Fielder.
