Aratere Update
The Interislander vessel, Aratere, was delayed earlier today when the ship experienced a mechanical problem that affected its propulsion system on its voyage from Picton.
The ship berthed in Wellington at approximately 6.40pm this evening. The delay resulted in both the 2pm sailing from Wellington, and the 6pm sailing from Picton being cancelled. Passengers booked to travel on these services have been accommodated on the next sailing. Engineers onboard Aratere are still working on the mechanical fault.
The Interisland Line is anticipating that the vessel will return into service for its next scheduled sailing at 10.00pm this evening - a designated freight service.
The Interisland Line wishes to thank its customers for their patience, and have undertaken to contact those passengers who were onboard as a follow up to the day's events.
The Interisland Line is very proud of the extensive effort put in by staff who pulled together throughout the day to ensure that customers were kept informed and as comfortable as possible in the circumstances.
