Contact Brings Competition To Central Hawkes Bay
Contact Energy Brings Competition To Central Hawkes Bay And Marlborough
Electricity consumers in Central Hawkes Bay and Marlborough can now choose Contact Energy as their energy retailer. The company is expanding its coverage nationwide to offer service to every part of the country.
Contact Energy General Manager Trading Steve Cross said Contact was delighted to provide greater choice to consumers. Before now, Central Hawkes Bay electricity consumers had no alternative to the incumbent retailer.
“Contact’s entry to Central Hawkes Bay and Marlborough demonstrates our commitment to enhancing competition in the retail electricity market.
“From today, some 5,000 homes in Central Hawkes Bay and 18,500 in Marlborough will have added choice in their electricity retailer, including the ability to collect FlyBuys points on their bill. Contact is the only electricity retailer to offer FlyBuys.
“Residential customers who want more information on switching to Contact should call 0800 80 900 or visit our website www.mycontact.co.nz.”
Contact already offers retail service everywhere in the South Island except the West Coast, which will be included in coming months; and everywhere in Hawkes Bay except Dannevirke which will also be included in coming months.
Mr Cross said the company was already able to offer service to nine out of 10 households in New Zealand and would be rolling out to the few remaining areas where Contact does not yet offer service.
“As one of the country’s leading energy retailers, committed to a competitive market for electricity, we want to be present and actively seek customers throughout the country.”
“Over coming months we will be launching retail offers to people in King Country, Bay of Plenty, southern Hawke's Bay, Wairoa, Buller and Westland. We have already launched retail service in Waipa and, from today, Central Hawkes Bay and Marlborough, since announcing our intention to expand nationwide coverage this April.
“These moves will make Contact Energy the second
energy company to retail electricity throughout the entire
country,” said Mr
Cross.
