Kawarau Jet Consolidates Jet Boat Services
In a consolidation of downtown Queenstown's jet boat services, Queenstown's original commercial jet boating company
Kawarau Jet now incorporates the Twin Rivers fleet.
A July 1 merger brought the total Kawarau Jet fleet to 9 boats with a carrying capacity of more than 150 people at any
one time.
Kawarau Jet director Andrew Brinsley says the consolidation offers greater efficiencies behind the scenes while the jet
boating experiences enjoyed by passengers remain exactly the same.
"In the meantime, the fleets will operate as in the past but over time the livery will change so that the entire fleet
is branded Kawarau Jet," he says.
"The consolidation of the fleets will translate into greater efficiencies with shared workshops, increased carrying
capacity for large groups and more consistent passenger numbers per trip."
Passengers will continue to enjoy the same breathtaking, hour-long, jet boat experience that journeys across Lake
Wakatipu and along the picturesque Kawarau River before speeding into the shallow, fast moving braids of the Shotover
River.
Kawarau Jet has been operating since 1960 and is still a Queenstown owned and operated business. Shaun and Sally Kelly
run the operation along with Queenstown business partners Andrew Brinsley and John Martin. An enduring tradition of
customer focus and innovation has kept the company at the forefront of the New Zealand tourism industry for the past 44
years.
