Tables Turned on All Blacks in new MasterCard TVC

Auckland, 11 June 2004 – It’s the All Blacks’ turn to ask for autographs in MasterCard’s new Priceless® television commercial, Supporting the Supporters. The TVC, shot in Auckland last week, features 12 of the recently announced All Blacks squad, including Dan Carter, Doug Howlett, Chris Jack and Jerry Collins.

In the commercial, which airs nationally from June 12 to coincide with the team’s first test against England, the players are seen supporting their fans. In one scene, Doug Howlett jumps out of a car to ask a man walking down the street for his autograph, and seven players stand on the side line of a rugby field holding a large supporters banner and cheering on a junior team.

This is the third Priceless TVC MasterCard has created featuring the All Blacks.

Natalie Lockwood, Vice President, Marketing, MasterCard International - Asia Pacific, Middle
East and Africa, said: “In many ways the fans of the All Blacks are the stars alongside their rugby heroes because their support is crucial to the team. This ad aims to recognise the efforts of all rugby supporters across New Zealand, while also building hype and patriotism during the 2004 international test series.”
