Outstanding business people to be honoured
Outstanding business people to be honoured in new annual award
The North Shore is to have a prestigious new award to recognise outstanding businesspeople whose efforts have had a positive impact on the city’s economy, business success and the community.
The Enterprise North Shore Business Hall of Fame will complement the Westpac Enterprise North Shore Business Excellence Awards which, for the past seven years, have recognised the achievements of local businesses.
Enterprise North Shore chairman Maurice Boland who, with a group of leading North Shore business people instigated the award, says each year a maximum of five outstanding North Shore individuals will receive the award. They will be business people who have made a significant contribution to the business growth and economic development of the city.
Mr Boland says: “North Shore City has a thriving and successful business community due to the often unsung efforts of generous individuals who step way beyond the ordinary call of duty. The Enterprise North Shore Business Hall of Fame is our way of saying thank you. We want these people to know that the work they do or have done is noticed and valued by their community.”
People wishing to submit a nomination can do so by completing a one-page nomination form available now at Enterprise North Shore in Albany. The final date for nominations is Friday July 9.
The inaugural recipients will be announced at the Westpac Enterprise North Shore Business Excellence Awards gala dinner being held at the Bruce Mason Centre on Thursday, August 26. Recipients will be presented with personalised trophies and have their names on an honours board to be located at Enterprise North Shore. The trophy and honours board will be designed and produced by the College of Design & Fine Arts at Massey University’s North Shore campus.
Nominees will have operated a successful business for a minimum of 10 years and their business must be located in North Shore City.
Mr Boland says the idea for the Enterprise North Shore Business Hall of Fame arose out of a meeting held earlier this year by a group of North Shore business people who are committed to supporting the pursuit of excellence in areas such as local sport, business, the arts and education.
“It’s about us having a
positive attitude and acknowledging that the North Shore is
a wonderful place to live, work and play. Though we are
already recognising our top sports and cultural people and
our top businesses, up until now we have not adequately
recognised our elite business people. Many of them have
made an enormous impact on our city and it is time to honour
them.”
