Ford's BA Falcon was the most popular new passenger vehicle sold in New Zealand in May - more than 500 award winning Falcons found new homes during the month.

Falcon's accomplishment - coupled with a segment topping performance by Ford Mondeo – also handed Ford the title of most popular provider of new passenger vehicles in New Zealand in May.

"We are naturally very excited by this achievement, but in particular with the performance of these two passenger vehicle models," said the Managing Director of Ford New Zealand, Richard Matheson.

"Ford actually had three models in the top ten for the month. In addition to the two already mentioned, Ford Courier held position seven on the list. We hope to have another contender register some points on the board over coming months – the all new Ford Territory."

Ford Territory goes on sale on June 14, and will make its official public debut at the 2004 National Fieldays at Hamilton's Mystery Creek (Wednesday 16 through to Saturday 19 June). It will also be joined at the show by a special guest – an as yet unannounced early build prototype imported especially for Fieldays, specifically to gauge consumer reaction.

"Fieldays offers us an opportunity to mix with heartland New Zealanders – who are traditionally Ford supporters," said Mr. Matheson.

"Rural New Zealand is a key consideration in our marketing and sales plans, therefore we are introducing some price leading actions across the Ford Courier range. For instance, as part of our Fieldays special, there will be an opportunity for buyers to save up to $10,500 on selected new Ford Couriers."

"I believe June is going to be another outstanding month for Ford New Zealand and our dealers. Look at what we are able to offer – we now have enough Ford Fiesta in country to meet customer demand, a Ford Courier deal that is better than I have ever seen, and an all-new entry – Ford Territory."
