Developments Fill Gap In Papanui Property Market

New Developments To Fill Gap In Papanui Property Market

Two new developments are under construction in Papanui to help meet the growing demand for industrial and commercial space, caused by a north-Canterbury population boom.

The developments in Sawyers Arms Road and Horner Street are the first new industrial developments in the area for several years. The Sawyers Arms Road development consists of five north-facing warehouse/showroom units while the five-unit Horner Street development offers a mix of warehouse or office and apartment space.

Simes Commercial Agent Craig Edwards says for the last few years there has been a shortage of industrial space in Papanui.

"With the increasing development in the northern area of Christchurch, including North Canterbury, businesses have been crying out for quality industrial space near the main northern arterial route and close to the city, in order to service the area's growing population base. These developments offer that."

Craig Edwards says the traditional industrial areas of Sockburn, Sydenham and Hornby are too far away for the number of businesses now focusing on the northern areas.

Strong interest is expected in both developments, which are now available for lease and will be completed in the next few months.

"These developments, while both being of extremely high quality, offer different products. They will definitely fill the hole that currently exists in the market," says Craig Edwards.
