Skycity Takes Breast Cancer Message To The Catwalk For The ‘In The Pink’ Fashion Show
Fashion followers get your diaries out! The not-to-be missed ‘In the Pink’ fashion show, featuring the latest season’s
fashions from top New Zealand designers will be held on Friday 11 June at the newly opened SKYCITY Auckland Convention
Centre.
Traditionally a sell-out event, the fashion extravaganza is one of the annual activities SKYCITY sponsors to raise funds
and awareness of The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation, along with the annual Global Illumination Campaign (October)
when Sky Tower is lit pink in conjunction with other leading world monuments.
A much-anticipated event, ‘In the Pink’ is hailed as a sight, sound and taste sensation attracting New Zealand’s leading
fashion houses featuring Adrienne Winkelmann, Liz Mitchell, SAKS, WORLD, Annah Stretton and Zambesi. Exciting new
additions to this year’s designer showcase include Helen Cherry, Helen Talbot, Jane Rhodes, and Kate Sylvester.
The evening entertainment line up also includes special guest appearances by the Topp Twins and Jazz Singer/TV
presenter, Sarah Bradley.
The ‘In the Pink’ event starts with cocktails at 6.30pm. Guests will experience new season fashions within the
surroundings of New Zealand’s newest world-class convention centre, the SKYCITY Auckland Convention Centre, while
savouring a delicious selection of canapés from award-winning SKYCITY chefs.
The event also features glamorous door prizes, raffles and an auction of luxury items from Christian Dior, Giltrap
Prestige, Michael Hill Jeweller, Business World Travel and International Art Centre.
Helen Mawn, Manager of The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation says that ‘In the Pink’ is an inspirational and
glamorous event, which gives women the chance to preview the latest fashions and have a great night out while supporting
a worthy cause.
“It is wonderful to see the show going from strength to strength and becoming more popular every year with people
queuing up for tickets. We are grateful to SKYCITY Auckland for its ongoing support in creating such a successful event.
“With the show on a Friday night, it will be a great end to the week for people looking for an extraordinarily fun
evening, which is amazing value at just $80 a ticket for top fashion, entertainment and food.
“We are delighted that, this year, ‘In the Pink’ will be held at the new SKYCITY Auckland Convention Centre just across
from SKYCITY on Federal Street. This means we’ll have more seats available so hopefully people won’t miss out on
tickets.” Nonetheless, Helen encourages fashion lovers to get in quick.
“A fun addition to this year’s event is a website competition where people can “design and win” by dressing up a model
doll. The fabulous prize consists of two tickets to the show, a night’s accommodation at SKYCITY Hotel and a designer
outfit, worth $1000 from Liz Mitchell,” says Ms Mawn. People can enter by going to www.skycityauckland.co.nz and
clicking on the ‘In the Pink’ box.
Tickets for ‘In the Pink’ are available for $80 from The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation (phone Telstra Clear
toll-free 0800 902 732). Proceeds from the show will help raise funds to support the Foundation’s ongoing community
education and awareness programmes.
The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation aims to educate all New Zealand women about breast cancer and the importance of
early detection, while working towards the goal of complete control of the disease.
