Marina likely to be on sold?

We look forward to the city on selling the Westhaven marina to a local marina society, the Employers & Manufacturers Association (Northern) says, and indeed one such group did lodge a bid for it.
“It is appropriate that Auckland City should secure Westhaven in order to onsell it to protect the area from inappropriate residential or commercial development,” said Alasdair Thompson, EMA’s chief executive.

“But it should not be forgotten the city has planning jurisdiction over Westhaven through its original planning consent processes, the city plan and the Resource Management Act. “These checks alone should be enough to protect the public interest in Westhaven.

“Retaining public ownership of the Westhaven boat park for private owners is not necessary once the public good is secured.”
