Energy of leading businesses exposed
The finalists for the 2004 EnergyWise Awards have been announced, with the line up featuring some of New Zealand's leading businesses.
Heather Staley Chief Executive of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) says the Awards are a showcase of innovative thinking and smart business management.
In their seventh year, the EnergyWise Awards are New Zealand's biggest celebration of innovative thinking in energy efficiency and renewable energy.
"Many New Zealand businesses have realised that making efficient use of energy isn't just something you to do for triple bottom line reporting - it makes good business sense. The businesses featured in the EnergyWise Awards demonstrate the financial gains that can be made by making the best possible use of our energy resources.
"Well known names such as Fonterra, McDonalds, Carter Holt Harvey and Auckland Zoo feature in the list of finalists, as well as organisations who are working to make energy efficiency a reality in their communities, such as the Huntly Energy Efficiency Trust and North Shore City Council," Ms Staley said.
>From the more than 100 entries judged, 27 finalists were selected across ten categories.
The winners will be announced at the EnergyWise Awards function to be held at Eden Park in Auckland on Wednesday 31 March. Tickets are available by visiting www.energywise.org.nz or by phoning 04 499 6909.
Ms Staley said that EECA is implementing the National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy through improving energy choices.
