Fonterra Elections Nominations Close 17 March 2004

Nominations for Fonterra's Board of Directors, Directors' Remuneration Committee and Shareholders' Council elections close at 5pm, Wednesday 17 March.

The Returning Officer Warwick Lampp is reminding Fonterra shareholders that nominations can be faxed to 0508 666 447 or mailed to the Returning Officer, P O Box 5252, Christchurch.

Candidates for the elections must be Fonterra shareholders, or a shareholder of a company or a member of a partnership or entity that is a shareholder in Fonterra. Candidates also have to be nominated and seconded by Fonterra shareholders. Nomination forms are available from the Returning Officer on the Election Hotline on 0508 666 446.

The Directors and Directors' Remuneration Committee members will be elected in a nationwide vote. Councillors will be elected in eleven wards.

Three shareholder-elected directors, two members of the Directors' Remuneration Committee, and a third of councillors retire annually. There are elections in three additional Shareholders' Council wards as vacancies have arisen.

The Shareholders' Council elections are in eleven wards:

Ward 3 Southern Northland Ward 6 Te Awamutu Ward 8 Rotorua Ward 9 Bay of Plenty Ward 10 South Waikato Ward 12 Te Aroha Ward 15 Coastal Taranaki Ward 16 Central Taranaki Ward 18 Manawatu Ward 21 Tasman/Marlborough Ward 24 Otago/Northern Central Southland

The three elections will run concurrently. Voting will run from 14 April to 12 May and results will be finalised and appointments made by 31 May.

The Single Transferable Vote (STV) voting system will be used for all elections.
