Vero Already Paying Out On Insurance Claims

Vero Already Paying Out On Insurance Claims

Vero Chief Executive Roger Bell is pleased to confirm the insurance company has already commenced payment of claims relating to this week’s devastating flooding and storm damage in the lower North Island.

“It is clear that this is an extraordinary weather event and Vero is conscious that a number of communities have been put under enormous pressure. Our priority is to ensure that Vero customers receive prompt attention and swift resolution of their insurance claims.”

“Since Monday our claims teams have been working extended hours, we have put more of our in-house assessors, supported by external assessors, on the ground in affected areas and given them increased discretion to make on the spot decisions in some cases.”

“In some circumstances this can include an immediate cash settlement of the claim or interim cash assistance to help our customers meet their immediate needs.”

“Obviously with an event of this magnitude it will take some time to process all the related claims and we would ask for patience from other customers with less urgent claims.”

“We are aware that some people have yet to return to their homes and businesses to view the damage and advise those who have yet to lodge their insurance claim take simple steps such as where possible photograph the damage before attempting a clean up, remove wet and damaged goods from your home but keep them on site until an assessor has been and, most importantly, to ensure that your personal safety and wellbeing is looked after.

“For those who have already lodged their claim with Vero and are awaiting a response, please be assured that we are doing everything humanly possible to help our customers at this very difficult time.”

Customers should contact their Insurance Broker or Adviser, or Vero (formerly Royal & SunAlliance) on 0800 808 121, to receive assistance.
