Orlando Wyndham to Acquire Premium New Zealand Wine Company
ADELAIDE, Feb. 10 /MediaNet International-AsiaNet/ --
Australia's largest wine and spirits company, Orlando Wyndham, has reached agreement to acquire 100% of Framingham Wine
Company Limited, subject to the approval of the New Zealand Overseas Investment Commission.
Orlando Wyndham is a subsidiary of international wine and spirits group, Pernod Ricard.
Established in 1991, Framingham owns and markets the premium Marlborough wine brands Framingham and Tylers Stream.
The company is highly respected for its range of aromatic white wines including Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Pinot
Gris, as well as its Pinot Noir red wine.
Framingham owns and operates a modern winery and cellar door sales facility near Renwick in the heart of Marlborough's
Wairau Valley.
The company sources premium grapes from its own vineyards and a select number of contract growers in the Marlborough
district.
"Framingham is a well-established premium wine business and we look forward to taking advantage of immediate growth
opportunities in New Zealand, Australia and, in the longer term, a number of other International markets," Orlando
Wyndham Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Laurent Lacassagne said.
"Framingham will complement and add value to Orlando Wyndham's existing brand portfolio and we believe Framingham will
benefit from Orlando Wyndham's winemaking and marketing expertise as well as Pernod Ricard's world-wide distribution
network."
Chairman of Framingham, Rex Brooke-Taylor, who will continue as both a grape grower and Director of the company after
the acquisition, said that establishing Framingham as a premium Marlborough wine brand had been an exciting experience
over the past 13 years.
Mr. Brooke-Taylor said he was very pleased to see the company joining Orlando Wyndham's portfolio of premium brands and
was looking forward to remaining involved in the next phase of Framingham's development on the International stage.
