Local Firm Wins Zespri Travel Contract

Local Firm Wins Zespri Travel Contract

Tauranga’s Merilynn Crean House of Travel has won a closed tender contract for all of ZESPRI International’s travel services ahead of two other national providers.

The contract includes all of ZESPRI’s international and domestic travel, all accommodation and conference booking and co-ordination of inbound tour groups.

ZESPRI’s chief executive, Tim Goodacre, said the decision had been made after a very competitive tender process and was won because of the service focus of the local firm.

“We were very impressed with the absolute willingness of House of Travel to become our partner rather than just another service provider.

“The leading edge technology that allows for close management of travel authorisation, a strong reporting and financial ability and a timesaving component all added up to them heading off competition from the Auckland market.

“We at ZESPRI are very confident that we will receive the world class service we expect,” he said.

House of Travel director, Shane Kennedy said the company was very excited by winning the contract.

“This is a very important contract for us and we believe we have the team and the technology to provide the kind of support ZESPRI requires. This is not just a coup for our business but a coup for the Tauranga community. It shows that we can and do do things just as well as our counterparts in the bigger centres,” he said.

“We hope this is the beginning of an enduring partnership with ZESPRI based on service excellence.”
