Adidas Picked for 3rd Consecutive Lions Tour

Adidas Picked for 3rd Consecutive Lions Tour

29th January 2004 - Sportswear giant and leading rugby brand adidas has teamed up with the British & Irish Lions for the 3rd successive tour together, this time for the 2005 visit to New Zealand.

As Official Kit Supplier, adidas will ensure that the Lions’ playing and training kit will embrace the very latest technology whilst staying true to the demands of rugby.

Michael Riehl, Head of Global Sports Marketing, adidas International Marketing BV says:
“adidas is honoured to be selected for our 3rd consecutive Lions tour. Having been there in South Africa and Australia we understand how grueling a tour can be and know what the kit needs to go through.”

“The success of the World Cup means interest in this tour will be unprecedented. The Lions and the All Blacks are two of the biggest names in sport and adidas is proud to sponsor both.”

Chairman of the Lions, Bill Beaumont added:

“adidas has shown on the last two Lions trips that it has what it takes to fully equip a tour of this magnitude. It was a simple decision to team up again for this ultimate of tours. The quality of their kit will ensure that those on the field will be able to perform to their utmost.”

adidas will also be the Official Sportswear Supplier and will produce a line of licensed apparel for fans to wear.

The agreement comes into immediate effect.
