Freedom Air Launches Really Small Fiji Fares

Freedom Air Launches Really, Really Small Fiji Fares

Online sales for Freedom Air's new flights to Fiji are available today, with one of the smallest airfares ever seen in New Zealand on offer.

The value-based airline's new flights from Hamilton and Palmerston North to Nadi start from a tiny $199* one-way, significantly less than fares offered by other airlines. *Fares exclude an $8 per sector insurance surcharge and all other taxes. A return fare or onward ticket must be purchased to fulfil Fiji immigration requirements.

Michael Young, Freedom Air's acting General Manager, says the airline's new service and really, really small pricing is in line with the company's commitment to providing more people with the opportunity to travel to more exciting destinations more often. "As the only New Zealand owned low-cost carrier we're proud to provide a gateway between the Waikato, Manawatu and Fiji," he says. "This is the first of a number of new routes we are considering and we look forward to providing New Zealanders with more low-cost travel options."

Freedom Air's first flight to Fiji is due to take off from Hamilton on 29 April 2004. Flights from Palmerston North are due to commence on 15 May 2004, with both launch dates subject to government approvals. Initially the services will begin with one flight per week from both Hamilton and Palmerston North.

The $199* fare is available from today on the airline's internet website, www.freedomair.com. Reservations Centre bookings can be made from 1 February by calling 0800 600 500, where a service fee of $3 each way applies. This fare is available for sale until 16 February. Travel at this price from Hamilton is for 29 April-30 June and 20 July-31 July 2004. Travel from Palmerston North is for 15 May-30 June and 20 July-31 July 2004.
