SIA Receives Passenger Service Award

SIA Receives Passenger Service Award From
Air Transport World Magazine

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has won Air Transport World’s prestigious Passenger Service Award for 2004. In announcing the award, the editors of the leading aviation magazine said: “In an age in which airlines are delivering less and less service, Singapore Airlines never stops reaching for the skies, always on the lookout for new ways to satisfy its customers.”

Air Transport World, headquartered in Washington DC, began its annual awards programme in 1974 to recognise excellence in the airline and commercial aerospace industries. It is published monthly by Ohio-based Penton Media, a diversified, global business-to-business media company.

Said Air Transport World: “In its 32 years of existence as an independent company, SIA progressively has raised the bar in all areas of customer service and has been especially proactive in driving forward higher standards for inflight entertainment systems and connectivity. It was the first to offer individual IFE units in all three service classes, the first to provide audio/video on demand, the first to bring DVD-quality movies onboard. It also is a leader in installation of onboard satellite phones and text messaging. It will take connectivity to a new level when, as part of its agreement to install the Connexion by Boeing system for high-speed Internet access by passengers, it brings up to 12 channels of live television into the aircraft.”

SIA will receive the award at Air Transport World’s Gala Awards Dinner, which will be held in Singapore on Monday, 23 February 2004.

Also this month, SIA received the Best Airline to Asia Pacific Rim award in the Irish Travel Trade News Awards. This is the 12th year in a row that SIA has won this award.

In a separate survey, SIA has been ranked 6th in the Transport Companies sector in the 2003 Financial Times/PricewaterhouseCoopers World's Most Respected Companies survey. SIA is the only Singapore company to be ranked in this year’s global survey, which is now in its sixth year. For more information on the survey, please visit:
