Auckland To Gain More Services: Capacity Boost Benefits Travellers

Singapore Airlines (SIA) will increase services to Auckland with an additional two weekly flights from the end of March 2004.

The increase will bring SIA’s non-stop flights between Auckland and Singapore to 12 per week, adding 570 seats per week - or 16% - which will be available for New Zealand travellers and tourists.

The additional flights show continuing confidence in New Zealand, both as a source market for Singapore Airlines’ global network, and as a destination for inbound tourists.

In October 2003, Singapore Airlines boosted flights from daily to 10 per week, so this capacity increase is the second in six months.

The flights will be operated by the latest generation Boeing 777-200ER aircraft, fitted in a two class configuration, featuring lie-flat SpaceBed seats in Raffles (Business) Class, and Economy Class.

All seats feature individual entertainment systems with fully functional audio and video on demand, enabling a choice of over 200 entertainment options, including pause, rewind, fast forward, individual and multi-player games and more.

The new flights will depart Singapore on Sunday and Thursday nights, with a morning arrival in Auckland. Flights from Auckland will depart mjd-morning on Mondays and Fridays, with a mid-afternoon arrival into Singapore.

These flights will increase same-day connection opportunities to other points in south-east and northern Asia, as well as the important growth market of India.

The two additional services commence on Sunday 28 March, with the first new arrival into Auckland at 7.40am on Monday 29 March 2004.

Singapore Airlines also operates five non-stop flights per week between Christchurch and Singapore – stepping up to daily during peak season over summer.
