picks 42 BELOW
New Zealand premium spirit maker 42 BELOW has capped a big year for the company by being named one of the top two premium vodkas in the UK in an end-of-year review of premium spirits by UK newspaper The Independent.
A review panel, that included the UK’s leading vodka expert Ian Wisniewski, sampled 18 premium vodkas at a London club. The resulting article in The Independent stated: ‘Out of the top five, all the panellists had Belvedere and 42 BELOW among their winners’.
Chief Vodka Bloke Geoff Ross said the review was a great way to end what had been an outstanding year for the company which continues to see export sales expand.
The Independent review follows similar recognition in the US in 2003 where 42 BELOW was listed in the “Best of the Best” catalogue of Wally's Wine store in Los Angeles. Wally's Wines has been rated as the No 1 wine store in Los Angeles. 42 BELOW vodka also featured in a report by wine magazine The Wine Enthusiast citing its top 60 wines, beers, liqueurs and spirits in the US in 2003.
It marks the end of a remarkable year for the young company that is already achieving a considerable level of international awareness of its brand and products.
42 BELOW this month launched its Manuka Honey Flavoured Vodka. This is a world first and complements the other unique South Pacific flavours of Feijoa and Passion fruit.
42 BELOW Vodka and SOUTH Gin are currently being sold through about 1200 bars and liquor stores, with approximately 400 of these being located in the United States and 140 in the UK. Distribution deals were also signed in Australia, Mexico and Canada.
