ASPINALL (NZ) LTD Clarifies Statements
Aspinall (NZ) Ltd wishes to correct certain statements made by Barry Thomas to the press regarding Christchurch Casinos Limited.
Among other things, Mr Thomas has said that Arthur Pitcher has been removed as a director of Christchurch Casinos Limited. Also Mr Thomas has implied that Arthur Pitcher has not been acting in the best interests of Christchurch Casino. In our opinion and that of our lawyers, Mr Pitcher cannot be removed without the approval of Aspinall and Aspinall have not given that approval.
Mr Pitcher has been chief executive since the casino opened in 1994 and has always acted in the best interests of Christchurch Casino Limited. Mr Pitcher continues to have the full support of Aspinall both as chief executive officer and director.
Aspinall has today sought assurances from Mr Thomas that the situation will be rectified promptly, failing which Aspinall has instructed its lawyers to obtain an injunction restoring the situation.
