children's meal options arrive at McDonald's
McDonald's is pleased to announce that from December it will offer a new range of Happy Meals designed to provide greater choice for children and parents.
From 4 December, Children's Anchor Mega Milk, Apple and Blackcurrant 25% Juice Drink, Pump Mini water and Keri orange juice will be added to the Happy Meal menu. Children's salads have already been introduced, and moves are underway to lower the saturated fat levels in fries.
McDonald's CEO, Al Dunn, says all Happy Meal options will now be available at the same price, despite the new items being more expensive to produce.
"With Happy Meal Choice, we will be offering a wider range of options for children and parents at no extra cost," says Mr Dunn. "We are making all our Happy Meals available at the same low price -- which of course includes a fun toy."
In addition, McDonald's will be introducing another Happy Meal Choice option in early 2004 and is working towards reducing the saturated fat level of its fries.
"Our customers are asking for more options and that's what we're providing," says Mr Dunn.
"It is worth pointing out that the current biggest selling Happy Meal -- Chicken McNuggets, small fries and a small soft drink -- already has less fat, fewer calories and less sugar than a peanut butter sandwich, a banana and a glass of milk."
