Community to celebrate new era for TSB workers
“After twelve years on individual contracts the union members at TSB will negotiate a collective agreement with their employer,” said Geraldine Molloy of Finsec the union for bank workers.
“Customers of the bank have already expressed their high opinion of the staff. Now they and the rest of the community will have a chance to help them celebrate the start of this exciting new era,” Ms Molloy said.
“When the National Government introduced the Employment Contacts Act in 1991 TSB workers lost their ability to bargain collectively. The passing of the Employment Relations Act 2000 gave them a chance to restore their union collective.
“After three years of determined and innovative work union members at the bank have rebuilt their collective and will now bargain with their employer. All members of the union are extremely proud of their TSB colleagues’ gutsy and well-deserved achievement. To mark the occasion, members of unions in Taranaki, customers of the Bank and people from the community invite TSB Finsec members, their families and friends to a meeting at The Grand Central Hotel on Powderham Street between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on Monday 24th of November” Geraldine Molloy concluded
