AAPT to roll out Australian WAN for Carter Holt Harvey
Telecom New Zealand’s Australian telco, AAPT, is rolling out a 46-site Wide Area Network for Carter Holt Harvey’s
Australian operation.
The rollout and near five-year network management agreement is worth almost NZ$7 million, and follows the NZ$60 million
whole-of-business five-year deal signed in June between Carter Holt Harvey, Telecom New Zealand and AAPT.
Matt McGuire, General Manager of Business Sales at AAPT, said Carter Holt Harvey now had the benefit of a trans-Tasman
business partner with the capability to meet its needs and grow with them.
“AAPT is delighted to be selected as the network provider of one of Australasia’s leading companies,” said Mr McGuire.
“Together with Telecom New Zealand, AAPT will leverage its unique trans-Tasman footing to provide Carter Holt Harvey
with a seamless, scalable service that gives them faster and more cost effective access to cutting-edge products and
services.”
Telecom Corporate Manager, Global Business Paul Douglas said: “This agreement provides CHH’s Australian operations with
better performance levels at a more competitive price.”
The deal follows proof of concept and pilot studies conducted by AAPT at two critical and two non-critical CHH
Australian sites.
While cost and performance benefits will be realised in the short term, CHH will also benefit from a fully integrated,
single trans-Tasman network that can be managed from either country.
With CHH’s New Zealand telecommunications being migrated to Telecom’s Next Generation Network, the new agreement also
allows for future scalability to provide services such as VoIP.
CHH’s IT business unit, Oxygen, will project manage the rollout.
