A brighter Christmas from Northpower
A brighter Christmas from Northpower Electric Power
Trust
The Northpower Electric Power Trust (NEPT) is granting their customers a brighter Christmas with a $50 credit on their November bills. Eligible Northpower customers will receive a dividend in the form of a credit, regardless of which electricity retailer sends out their power bill.
NEPT Chairman Erc Angelo says the dividend being paid out, is the customer’s share of Northpower’s profits paid to the Trust by Northpower. The NEPT owns Northpower on behalf of the beneficiaries, which are ultimately the customers. Mr Angelo says each time Northpower pays a dividend to the NEPT, the NEPT trustees are required to make a decision on what should happen to the funds. Since 1997 profits have been returned to customers.
“We have consistently returned the profit to customers as Northpower is in excellent health and we believe that customers should enjoy its successes through dividends from the Trust.”
In addition to the dividends from the NEPT, customers have also enjoyed line holidays from Northpower, which has some of the lowest line charges in the country. Lines company Northpower is owned by NEPT on behalf of the community and supplies electricity to the region through a number of electricity retailers, including Meridian, Genesis and Mercury.
“We receive constant feedback from people on the benefits of keeping Northpower in community ownership,” says Mr Angelo.
The credit is
paid on each power installation (ICP) connected to the
Northpower network as at midnight 18 November 2003. If for
any reason customers do not receive the $50 credit on their
power bills they should contact the NEPT information line on
