Motorists Seek Assurance From Nissan
“Motorists who drive Nissan vehicles are rightly annoyed and concerned at not receiving full details of the steps they need to take to be certain their vehicle is not a model affected by the worldwide recall notified by Nissan from Japan”, said Jack Biddle, Technical Advice Manager of the New Zealand Automobile Association.
“It is expected that Nissan will provide vehicle identification numbers and make available countermeasure parts for those used cars, which are part of the recall programme.”
“There is a responsibility on the manufacturer to ensure the appropriate part is available for all owners whether it is a NZ new vehicle or a used import”, he said. The problem relates to a safety factor and therefore the manufacturer should be taking all steps to give assurance to owners that they will be able to have repairs undertaken with minimal delay.

Nissan owners can check immediately as to whether their car
is involved or not, and the steps that are being taken to
remedy the position for all vehicles affected, whether NZ
new or
used.
