Triangle Television appoints new assistant station manager
Triangle Television has appointed one of its longest-serving staff members to the newly created position of Assistant
Station Manager.
Callum MacGilvray, who joined Triangle almost a year before it went to air in 1998, has been promoted from the position
of Programme Manager.
The role of Assistant Station Manager is new for Triangle Television and reflects the growth and expansion the station
has undergone since its inception. Triangle Television celebrated its fifth birthday in August.
Mr MacGilvray has a Diploma in Advertising from the Auckland University of Technology and, before he commenced with
Triangle Television in November 1997, he freelanced for a number of advertising agencies.
His first role with Triangle was in sales and marketing and was promoted to Programme Manager when the station began
broadcasting.
His new position will involve more responsibility, and more accurately describes the management role which has evolved
as the station has developed.
Mr MacGilvray says working for a relatively small organisation such as Triangle Television has afforded him considerable
freedom in his work.
"As a Programme Manager you meet a variety of people and come across endless ideas for new programmes.
"When someone comes to us with no experience but a great idea, it's both challenging and fulfilling to help them turn
that idea into a television programme and see it go to air."
Mr MacGilvray was appointed to his new position on September 29, 2003.
Triangle Television is Auckland's only regional, non-commercial television station and has operated as a public
broadcaster to Greater Auckland since August 1 1998. The channel screens a mix of regional-access television with
international news and information programmes. It is non-profit making and operates with no funding from NZ On Air.
Triangle broadcasts 24 hours daily from UHF channel 41.
