Trade Unions Biennial Conference

October
The NZCTU Biennial Conference will take place at
the Michael Fowler Centre, Wellington, October 22 to 24,
2003.
The conference theme is A Strong Voice for Working People. The CTU’s 34 affiliated unions, representing around 300,000 workers, will attend.
Most of the sessions are open to the media and you are welcome to send a representative. Key media events are:

9.30am: Labour Minister, Margaret Wilson. “The common
purpose: the Employment Relations Act and the Health &
Safety in Employment Act.”
10.00am: CTU president, Ross Wilson. “The ‘Unions Talking Health and Safety’ campaign.”
1.30pm: Cathy Walker, national health & safety director of the Canadian Auto Workers Union.
2.00pm: Presentations on health and safety issues: stress and fatigue, work/life balance, alcohol and other drugs, and hidden hazards: occupational disease.

of the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions.
