Deli meals recalled

Deli meals recalled

Progressive Enterprises Ltd supermarkets are recalling five chilled pre-prepared snack meals because of a possible packaging fault. The meals are sold without a brand name from the delicatessen.

The company has identified a potential issue of the packaging arcing when used in a microwave oven.

The Shepherds Pie, Macaroni Cheese, Thai Chicken Curry, Beef Curry and Lasagne products are sold in all Woolworths, Big Fresh, Price Chopper, Countdown and Foodtown stores nation-wide.

According to Mark Brosnan, Progressive Enterprises Ltd general manager merchandise, the withdrawal is short term.

"The food is completely safe and can be heated in a conventional oven. Consumers should not heat the meals in a microwave.

"The products are being taken out of the chillers until the packaging has been redesigned to make it safe for use in microwave ovens. We expect this process to take about three days."

Mr Brosnan says customers who have any of the products should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
