The Biggest Business Class Seat In The Sky Arrives
Singapore Airlines’ customers can now enjoy the biggest bed in Business Class when they fly on the Airline’s Boeing 747-400 aircraft between Auckland and Singapore, and beyond.
Installed at a cost of US$100 million, Singapore Airlines’ Raffles Class lie-flat seat, the SpaceBed, is now available on all of the Airlines’ 12 weekly non-stop services between New Zealand and Singapore, including its 5 weekly flights from Christchurch.
At an extended length of 198.2 centimetres and seat width of 68.5 centimetres, the SpaceBed is designed to provide more space and comfort for business travellers. In addition, the SpaceBed’s unique cushioning system conforms more effectively to the body’s contours, allowing our passengers to rest even more comfortably in their preferred position, whether seated upright, partially reclined or flat.
“With more non-stop flights over long distances, seat-beds with the latest technological features are becoming essential for the customer who wishes to work, sleep or simply relax on board. Today’s business person is often rushing from meeting to meeting, sometimes thousands of miles apart. They want to arrive in good shape, refreshed and ready to go,” said Singapore Airlines’ General Manager New Zealand, Mr S H Chin.
“With its unique design, the SpaceBed is a quantum leap in spaciousness and privacy, and offers unprecedented comfort for our long-haul Raffles Class customers,” said Mr Chin.
Each aircraft fitted with Raffles Class SpaceBeds also comes equipped with Wiseman 3000, Singapore Airlines’ new-generation inflight entertainment system, with audio and video on-demand capabilities and more than 190 entertainment options. Customers in every seat in every class can choose from a selection of movies, short features (including popular international TV programmes such as CSI and Friends), over 50 music CD albums, more than 30 Nintendo® Games and other games and interactive features.
