Westpac opens New Branch on Dominion Road

WHAT: Opening day new Dominion Road Branch
WHERE: 184 Dominion Road, Auckland
WHEN: Monday 7 July 9am

Westpac’s new branch at 184 Dominion Road will open its doors for the first time on Monday July 7, 2003.

Ann Sherry Westpac Chief Executive Officer said she was looking forward to seeing the newly designed branch layout.

“Westpac is committed to providing first class services, continued investment and dedicated staff who make it their business to understand the financial needs of their customers.

Actually I’ll be working in the branch in the “front of house” role on Monday from 9.15 till 10am. This is a new position we are introducing where we will have a presence in the front of the branch. The idea is to welcome and interact with customers, pointing them in the right direction if they need assistance” Ann Sherry said.

Westpac’s General Manager Consumer Ken Hodgson said Westpac is responding to the needs of its customers, including local businesses in the Mt Eden area.

“This new branch is part of Westpac’s commitment to improving customer service levels. Westpac hit 300,000 online users at the beginning of June this year, of which we estimate 70% are regular users of internet banking however, our customers are telling us they still want and need access to our services through a branch, and that is what we are providing them. The opportunity for our staff to have face-to-face contact is also crucial to identifying and meeting our customers needs,” Mr Hodgson said.

“The Dominion Road Branch has been designed with the customer in mind. The fit out moves away from the traditional counter type layout towards facilities that allow more personal interaction with customers” he said.

An Information station will be positioned at the entrance to the branch to assist with customer enquiries that require straightforward answers, with sit down locations for more time intensive customer enquiries. The new Dominion Road branch and the recently upgraded Queen Street branch will provide customers with the first insight into the new Westpac colour scheme and layout. Staff at 184 Dominion Road will also be wearing the new uniforms for the bank.

The Queen Street branch was the first of Westpac’s 200 branches to have undergone an upgrade and new look, the remaining branch upgrades will occur over the next 24 months throughout New Zealand.

Westpac’s new Dominion Road branch will employ up to 11 staff. The branch will have extended operating hours opening till 6.30pm Monday to Friday to meet the needs of the public.
