Simon Anholt (UK)

Simon Anholt consults to governments and corporations seeking to market their brands in the global marketplace. As chairman of Earthspeak, Simon advises several countries, states and cities including the Governments of Croatia, Czech Republic and Slovenia. Simon also works with the UK Government's "Brand Britain' steering group and has also worked with the United Nations, World Bank, BBC Worldwide, Mars Confectionary, Warner Bros Inc and Samsung Electronics.

Simon has written two books, "Another One Bites the Grass - Making Sense of International Advertising', which highlights the cultural and language difficulties in transporting a brand across nations, and his latest offering "Brand New Justice - The Upside of Global Branding', explores the role of brands in economic development.

Erik Arndt

Erik Arndt is the founder and owner of Aria Farm, an innovative New Zealand company producing healthy, convenience foods from beef and lamb. Aria Farm has achieved international success through the sale of Licence and Royalty Agreements of its groundbreaking technology. Erik holds a Diploma in Agriculture from Massey University, and has completed courses in Farm Business Management and Advanced Farm Business Management.

Gavin Faull

Gavin is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants (CA, NZ) and a Fellow of the Hong Kong Society of Accountants (FHKSA). He has 27 years of experience in hotel management and operations and corporate development and administration. Gavin's experience includes eight years with the Peninsula Group - Hong Kong and seven years with Kingsgate International Corporation Limited, where he was chief executive. In 1990 Gavin joined Swiss-Belhotel International where he is currently president.

Gavin also maintains a variety of other roles including adviser to Blue Mountains Hotel School - Sydney and adviser/director to Pacific International Hotel

Management School, New Zealand. He is director and investor in a number of private agricultural, property and consulting companies in Australia and New Zealand, is a member of the Institute of Directors and is also a New Zealand Justice of the Peace.

Susan Kingston

Susan has extensive experience in the area of intellectual property and as Aria Farm's lawyer has worked closely on the project from its conception. For a number of years Susan was also a member of McDonald's legal team, dealing mainly with the business' franchising programme.

Andrew Lark

Andrew Lark, an ex pat New Zealander based in San Francisco, is Vice President - Global Communications and Marketing, for Sun Microsystems. During his career Andrew has worked with and for Fortune 500 and Times 100 companies; technology leaders and start-ups and some of the world's leading advertising and communications agencies.

An expert in global technology trends and strategies for market access to the US, Andy is an Advisery Board Member for the Trade New Zealand ICT Beachhead based in Silicon Valley - a programme which helps technology companies establish a local presence in the US market.

Andy is also the founder of "Global Network of Kiwis', an organisation bringing together top New Zealand talent in the US, with the aim of assisting high-potential technology and biotech companies based in New Zealand break into offshore markets.

Dr Clint Laurent

Dr Clint Laurent is director and CEO of Asian Demographics Limited. He has considerable experience in the Asian Market Research Industry and is responsible for the foundation of a number of market research companies throughout the region.

In 1989 Clint founded Asia Market Intelligence Ltd, a full service market research company. After building this up to seven regional offices, he then went on to develop Asia Studies Limited - a market research initiative focusing on higher value analysis and reporting, with offices in Hong Kong and Singapore.

In 1996 Clint also established Asian Demographics Limited, which specialises in the collection, analysis, and modelling of demographic data to provide a perspective of the demographic future of Asia.

Clint has a PhD in Marketing and Statistics from Bath University in the UK and

a Master's Degree in Commerce from Victoria University, New Zealand.

Export New Zealand Panel Session

Murray Davies (chair)

Murray is National President of Export New Zealand (formerly known as the Export Institute of New Zealand). He works closely with Ministers and Government officials to promote and encourage Government to implement policy that will increase New Zealand's export growth.

Murray chairs the Mediplus Group of companies and is director of Salus Health and Lexicon System Ltd. Murray is also a founding board member of Priority One, an organisation set up in the Bay of Plenty to assist in the development of the region, funded by private investment and local bodies.

In earlier roles, Murray was founding managing director of Bridgcool Corporation Ltd and owner/director of the Pinto Fruit Juice Company.
