Westfield Supports Energy Saving
Westfield Supports Energy Saving
Westfield NZ is focused on saving energy at the 12 shopping centres they own/manage throughout New Zealand.
Since prior to Easter we have been working closely with our Operations Team to explore all opportunities in support of the Winter Task Force.
“To achieve this, tips on how to achieve energy savings has been distributed to all staff, retailers, and appointed contractors. We are confident that initiatives already implemented will enable us to achieve the required energy saving target of 10%”, said John Widdup, Director, Westfield NZ.
“We are committed to the ongoing review of our operations to maximise savings wherever possible without compromising the safety of our shoppers. To assist us in this process we have conducted independent energy audits at all our centres with the assistance of an Energy Consultant”, said Mr Widdup.
“We have been proactive in our energy savings management, whilst still adhering to Health and Safety requirements. Some of the initiatives that we have undertaken include:
Air handling units run-times reduced Lighting levels to the centre’s external and internal entry points have been reduced External and internal signage where ever possible has been reduced The exterior signage lighting has been reduced”.
“We have
installed posters at all our shopping centres as well as our
own Support Office in Newmarket. The intention of this
signage is to remind us that we all have a role to play in
achieving energy savings. We know our shoppers will
understand that there may be some changes to the shopping
environment in order for us to achieve required savings
targets”.
