March Quarter Television Advertising revenue up 11.1%

Television advertising revenue increased by 11.1 per cent for the three months to 31 March 2003 over the same period in 2002. The quarterly increase follows on the 11.3 per cent increase recorded for the quarter to 31 December 2002.

The NZTBC's Executive Director, Bruce Wallace said, "The bouyant television advertising market reflects the highly competitive economy with financial services, automotive and fast moving consumer goods displaying a lot of activity." He said that the forward market for television advertising was excellent with strong demand and positive responses to the ratecards released by the broadcasters.

Viewing levels also rose over the same period in 2002.

The NZTBC is made up of the four companies operating national broadcast television channels. They are CanWest New Zealand, Prime Television New Zealand, Sky Network Television and Television New Zealand.
