Real Life needs a Soundtrack
Why doesn't real life seem to have the excitement of a Hollywood action flick or the romance of a Julia Roberts' movie? Auckland computer company, Acclaim Datasystems have the answer, and have developed software that is set to revolutionise the personal music industry, giving your life its own "Hollywood" soundtrack.
Acclaim Spokesperson, Dr. Joost Benhaad announced limited trials of the SoundTraxT software had been encouraging and a prototype was being developed for international release. "Basically we are using existing "mood sensor" technology to detect a person's feelings and situation and then select the most appropriate personal "soundtrack".
A spokesperson for International Electronics stated, "We're very excited by the opportunities Acclaim's software offers. Imagine romantic feelings spontaneously assisted by the sounds of Barry White, or getting that extra bit of motivation during your morning aerobics from a dynamic rendition of the theme from Xanadu. The possibilities are endless."
The project development process was,
however, not without its challenges. Because the sensors tap
into your true feelings, the choice of soundtrack may not
always be helpful. For example, hearing the theme tune to
Mission Impossible while in a romantic situation could
seriously damage ones self-confidence. In addition,
Australian testing was abandoned altogether when the
software continually defaulted to "We win again" or a Rolf
Harris Medley.
