World Class Speakers At National Export Symposium

World Class Speakers At National Export Symposium

Auckland, March 27, 2003 – A top calibre line up of international experts will inspire delegates at this year’s Trade New Zealand National Export Symposium, to be held at the Christchurch Convention Centre on Thursday 12 June.

Facilitated by respected broadcaster and journalist Linda Clark, the symposium aims to give exporters practical solutions to help grow their international business. The one-day programme will be followed by the annual finale ceremony and dinner for the Trade New Zealand Export Awards 2003, at which the Trade New Zealand Supreme Exporter of the Year will be announced.

Speakers at the symposium include:

UK-based Simon Anholt, a leading international consultant to corporations and governments that are seeking to build global brands and effectively advertise across cultures; Andrew Lark, Vice President, Global Communications and Marketing at Sun MicroSystems in the US, and founding member of Trade New Zealand’s ICT Advisory Board in the US. Gavin Faull – President of Swiss-Belhotel in Hong Kong and director of the Pacific International Hotel Management School in New Plymouth, which trains hospitality staff for hotel chains throughout Asia; and Dr Clint Laurent, director and CEO of Asian Demographics. Dr Laurent is New Zealand’s foremost authority on demographic change in China and emerging opportunities for trade in the regions.

The programme also features a combination of individual speakers, case studies and panel discussions, including a session lead by Export New Zealand on negotiating export contracts.

Trade New Zealand Acting Chief Executive Rod MacKenzie says the one-day conference is designed to provide experiential learning for anyone involved in the export industry, and follows the outstanding success of the inaugural National Export Conference last year in Auckland. Several hundred delegates expected to attend from all over the country.

“The quality of the speakers this year is outstanding and all will provide insights and advice to trends critical to our export future, covering topics such as the significant power of China, the importance of branding and the economic outlook for our exporters for 2004 and beyond.”

Mr MacKenzie says the Symposium and Export Awards dinner will also be excellent opportunities for networking.

The Trade New Zealand National Export Symposium is sponsored by Westpac Institutional Bank.
