Foodstuffs & St.George Unveil New Bank Brand
The brand name of New Zealand's newest bank has been revealed.
"Superbank" was launched at a special meeting of Foodstuffs supermarket owner operators in Auckland tonight.
A joint venture between the Foodstuffs companies of New Zealand and St.George Bank of Australia, the bank will launch its first product through Pak'N Save, New World, Write Price and Four Square stores before the end of March.
The bank's Chief Operating Officer James Munro says the development of the brand has been carefully thought through to reflect the characteristics of the new bank.
"We are setting out to change the face of retail banking, offering a genuine alternative to traditional banks.
"The name Superbank obviously fits well with Foodstuffs' core supermarket business, but also represents something that is excellent, better, an improvement.
"Our catchphrase is "Not your ordinary bank," which gives a good idea of what New Zealanders can look forward to.
"We believe people currently have a low expectation of real improvement if they change their bank. We're planning to change those expectations."
He is confident Superbank will prove popular with Foodstuffs' customers.
"Superbank is about offering three things - convenience, convenience, convenience. International experience has shown that a convenience offering wrapped around excellence of service and price competitiveness ? what we call 'supermarket value banking' ? has been tremendously well received by the public.
"More than 3.2 million people visit a Foodstuffs store each week. By the end of the year, Superbank will be offering better, smarter and more convenient banking options to those customers."
