Fresh To Launch With Virtual Reality Guru

Fresh start @ The Telecom Shed to feature virtual reality guru

The Employers & Manufacturers Association is launching a network for early technology adopters and innovators.

First up event of the new network on January 29th will feature virtual reality and human/technology interface guru, Dr Tom Furness.

Dr Furness, professor of industrial and electrical engineering at the University of Washington and Founding Director of the Human Interface Technology Laboratory (Hit Lab), is a pioneer in aircraft cockpit simulation.

His work has applications in medical imaging, virtual prototyping, virtual classrooms, prostheses for the handicapped and televirtuality.

Dr Furness will explain Hit Labs latest developments in New Zealand.

The aim of Fresh is to show case new technology and ideas for growing business, and to accelerate their adoption," said Alasdair Thompson, EMA's chief executive.

"So its designed to appeal both to management and those actively developing new ideas and technology for growing businesses."

The Fresh Network launch at The Telecom Shed at Auckland's Viaduct Basin is on January 29th 2003 starting with breakfast at 8.30 am, at no cost.

Around 200 Fresh Network breakfast attendees are expected. Time to try out the technology at The Telecom Shed will be allowed for.
