OMEGA Seamaster’s America’s Cup Racing Chronograph arrives in New Zealand

Marking OMEGA’s role as the Official Timekeeper of the 2003 America’s Cup, OMEGA has developed the first ever America’s Cup Seamaster Racing Chronograph timepiece in conjunction with the crew of defending Cup champions Team New Zealand. Skipper Dean Barker, who provided his personal input at OMEGA’s head design workshop in Bienne, Switzerland, recommended the inclusion of the critical Regatta countdown timer feature.

Dean Barker, will be presented with his America’s Cup Seamaster Racing Chronograph timepiece today at the OMEGA International Boutique the first of its kind in Australasia.

Since winning the Cup again in 2000, Team New Zealand’s defence of the 2003 America’s Cup in February has seen the team embark on a rigorous training schedule of trials and various top class regattas around the world, pushing their personnel and equipment to the limit. And not surprisingly, OMEGA has repeatedly excelled itself constantly keeping time for the Cup champions.
